What Causes Yeast Infection?

A yeast infection, also called candida, is a type of fungus that normally lives inside the body. This infection is common in places such as the mouth, throat, gut, vagina, and skin. Women are more prone to have a yeast infection, but men can also get this infection.

Yeast infections occur frequently in moist areas of the body. Yeast is a healthy fungus that lives in the body. However, when the balance of the yeast is offset, the yeast grows quickly and causes infections.
